The Role
You will join a supportive team and enjoy working across the hospitals in the Wellington region offering a unique clinical experience. Wellington Regional Hospital provides secondary and tertiary surgical services to a local population of 296,000 and tertiary services to a broader regional population exceeding 1 million. The hospital is well equipped and includes the Surgical Assessment and Planning Unit (SAPU).
The Cardiothoracic Service perform around 600-700 heart operations and 200-300 lung operations every year. The department provide acute and elective surgeries, such as Coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG), Heart valve surgery, Aortic aneurysm repairs, Removal of lung tissue for treatment or diagnosis, Management of problems with the pleural space. Pneumothorax, Effusion and Infection, Chest trauma.
