GP required to join a close knit, supportive, professional clinic in the Gore district of Mataura.

 

A small rural practice in Southland, servicing 2743 patients. Mataura is located 10 minutes’ drive from Gore and 40 minutes from Invercargill. The practice is supported by a full time GP, a highly skilled nursing workforce, Health Improvement Practitioner, Kaiawhina Support Worker, Health Care Assistant and a large administrative team, who all  make a significant impact on the quality of life for their patients

 

  • Full time and Part time positions will be considered

  • Study leave, annual leave, rostered non-clinical time and reimbursement of your APC and Indemnity insurance are included. 
  • Contribution to relocation expenses is negotiable as are other costs for candidates moving from overseas.

 

 

Located just 10 minutes from the Southland’s second largest town, Gore, which has a population of 10,000 and services a rural population of 25,000. It is centrally located in the lower South Island, close to tourist attractions and outdoor pursuits. It has easy access to Queenstown, Fiordland and Central Otago.

Gore straddles the Mataura River and is surrounded by productive farmland and forestry. Agriculture, including sheep farming, dairying, arable farming and horticulture, forms the basis of the economy. Internationally known for trout fishing and its annual country music festival, Gore also provides excellent amenities. These include good shopping, cafes, library, museum, art gallery housing the Mooney collection, a new multi sports complex with fitness, swimming, hydrotherapy and ice skating facilities, and a golf course. Also in the district is a recently completed grade 1-2 mountain bike track and Dolamore Park, a bush reserve with interesting bush walks.

Education is well-catered for, with four primary schools, one intermediate and two secondary schools. There is also a branch of the Southland Institute of Technology, offering a wide range of courses. The town is well-presented with beautiful private and public gardens.
