Te Whatu Ora – Whanganui, is a 35-bed medical unit providing General Medical services for the people of the Whanganui rohe/region. Our primary aim is to ensure the people in our community get the services they need to help them be as healthy and independent as possible.

About the role
We seek General Medical Physicians / Hospitalists to join our highly skilled team in a permanent, full-time position starting 2025. This might suit a current Registrar looking to secure their first Consultant position.
This critical position will see successful candidates working within a small team and providing General Medical / Physician services during ward rounds.
You will also attend 2 outpatient clinics and an ECG stress clinic each week. There are opportunities for additional clinics if desired and also the ability for candidates to further their training and negotiate a sub-speciality practice. You will also support other departments within the hospital, providing support and advice to the emergency department and critical care units.
Supporting our Registrars and Resident Medical Officers, you will be able to draw on support from our link with Wellington's training programme and will serve as a mentor for these more junior physicians.

About you
To succeed in these positions, you will have completed your residency/ registrar training in Internal Medicine and are a fellow of The Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP) or are eligible to hold vocational registration with the Medical Council of NZ as a Physician.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to effectively interact with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Strong teamwork skills will enable you to work effectively with your team and other departments.
