Opportunity
Working as a Consultant Adult Psychiatrist within Intellectual Disabilities you will be responsible for the care and treatment of patients in your clinical charge, with the service to be as community-orientated as possible.
Duration - 12-24 month contract with a view to go permanent
You will provide a service with the multidisciplinary team for patients referred for specialist treatment encompassing comprehensive programmes of care, including family support and advice where necessary.
You;'ll also lead and engage in the provision of a range of community-based assessment and treatment programmes including, out-patient clinics, day hospital services, community services, residential centres, and any service deemed necessary in the future in line with evidence-based practice and National Clinical Programme for Dual Diagnosis.
This post will allow the Service to increase to 3.4 Consultants in Mental Health Intellectual Disabilities to allow for the phased development of 4 Adult MHID Teams, each led by a consultant psychiatrist of learning disability (Adult) to deliver a Mental Health service to individuals with moderate or more severe intellectual disability. The multidisciplinary team will allow provision of MHID Service on a sectorized model of care. You will provide an MHID Service to a region with a Total Population of 130,000.

Essential Criteria
- Specialist Registration with the Irish Medical Council or eligibility for Specialist Registration
- UK and EEA candidates with Specialist Registration in Psychiatry can apply
- 5 - 10 years' relevant experience post-graduation
- Possesses a detailed knowledge and understanding of the relevant specialist domain: Intellectual Disabilities
Location: Cork
