Contract:  Permanent, full time 50 hours p/w - starting November 2024

About the role

We are looking for a permanent Consultant Radiation Oncologist, preferably with gynaecology brachytherapy experience to join our team. 

The team currently consists of 10 radiation oncologists who are supportive, and dedicated to the provision of an efficient, high quality, patient focused treatment service. We are a very cohesive team, and work collegially with our radiation therapy and medical physics colleagues, which creates a rewarding work environment.  We also work closely with our oncology and surgical colleagues with multidisciplinary clinics across several sites. We offer HDR brachytherapy for gynaecological, prostate and skin cancers, and a radioactive iodine service for thyroid cancer. We offer stereotactic treatment to several sites. Our focus for 2024 is to extend our stereotactic programme and our research programme

Wellington is an accredited training facility for radiation oncology registrars, radiation therapists and medical physicists. There is a research unit in the department to support a wide-range of local, national and international studies. We have close links with the University of Otago Medical School and Department of Radiation Therapy, should you wish to get involved

About you

  • Vocationally registered in Radiation Oncology with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
  • FRANZCR or equivalent qualification and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
  • Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
  • Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
  • Relevant experience and training
