The Role and Hospital
- Provide high quality clinical and non-clinical services to benefit the patients of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS). This includes research as well as teaching the health professionals of the future.
- Position is available for specialist psychiatrist in the field of Rural Mental Health Services
- Work in a collegial, multi-disciplinary team settings, within a supportive framework of peer and operational supports.
- Lead and manage the provision of medical services in accordance with the standard of the speciality, the ethics of the profession and in accordance with the THHS and Queensland Health (QH) policies, in a hospital, community and outreach setting.
The Townsville HHS is the largest tertiary health service in northern Australia. The Adult Mental Health Service consists of the Acute Care Team, Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit (a 36-bed acute inpatient service located at The Townsville Hospital), Homeless Health Outreach Team and the Community Care Teams.
Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABPN) or New Zealand.
- 3 years Consultant/Specialist level work experience.
- A minimum of 6 months in a formal training post in Child and Adolescent psychiatry in your basic or advanced training (if not FRANZCP).
- Experience in a multidisciplinary team context.
