Head Medical are delighted to share we are seeking a Consultant in Palliative Medicine to be based in Rockhampton, Queensland - A regional city that offers an ideal lifestyle and is the southern gateway to the Great Barrier Reef coming up it a beautiful 300 days of sunshine a year.
The health service provides health care to Central Queensland that covers catchment area of approximately 250,000, a number which is expected to continue to grow.
You'll provide; inpatient and outpatient specialist Palliative Care Services for the hospital's Health facilities, professional leadership to medical staff within the service, and ensure the organisation, management and provision of specialist clinical services in Palliative Care, including community-based care.

About the Hospital
Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed facility and is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland. Specialist Medical Services include Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Geriatric Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Intensive Care and Anaesthesia. There are also a range of clinical services provided on a visiting basis from tertiary hospitals in Queensland. A new Cancer Care Unit provides care for local patients, with state-of-the-art equipment and services.
The Department of Medicine provides Internal medicine services for the Rockhampton Hospital and surrounding health service including Gladstone, Emerald and Biloela. The Department has an allocation of 32 medical beds, 8 “48 hour” beds, 5 coronary care beds, 9 palliative care beds (including chemotherapy) and outpatient clinics each week.
Sub-speciality areas are currently Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Oncology, Haematology, Palliative Care, Geriatric and Rehabilitation Services. Specialist ambulatory services are available for Rheumatology and Dermatology. The Department provides exposure to a broad range of medical conditions both common and uncommon.
Essential criteria

Specialist in Palliative Medicine with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency. This will require Fellowship of the Australian Chapter of Palliative Medicine, Royal Australasian College of Physicians ideally

Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABIM certified) or New Zealand.
- A high-level of clinical knowledge, proficiency and skills in Palliative Medicine including recent hospital experience.
