Locum Consultant in Interventional Cardiologist - Mid August - 1-year contract (Extension possible)

Salary £146,628.30 to £180,922.30 per annum (based on experience).
This is a new post in the Medical Department for a second full-time Consultant Interventional Cardiologist to facilitate the development of the cardiology service in Gibraltar with the existing Interventional Cardiologist
You will be providing outpatient clinics, seeing and dealing with the full gamut of cardiological presentations, as well as providing inpatient specialist input, particularly in the critical care unit and medical ward and managing an inpatient cardiology caseload.

The post holder will be expected to work closely with the existing Interventional Cardiologist, associate specialist in Cardiology as well as the team of 7 Consultant Medical Physicians and up to 10 Non-consultant Hospital Doctors (akin to SHOs/early Specialist Trainees in the NHS) currently working within the medical department. Participation in the cardiology acute and on call rota, including provision is a prerequisite of the post though participation in the General Medical on-call rota is not a requirement. An evidenced ability to undertake independent coronary angioplasty, including primary PCIs, is a key requirement of this post
The cardiology service is supported by a cardiac associate specialist, a cardiac catheter suite team, three cardio-respiratory physiologists and a cardiac rehabilitation service.
Main Duties:
- Develop the invasive cardiology service
- Contribute to the General cardiology outpatient service
- Be the named, responsible consultant for the small cohort of cardiology inpatients
- Telephonic/email support for primary and secondary clinicians needing cardiology advice
- Assist in the support, mentorship and provide clinical oversight to the cardiac physiologists and nursing colleagues working within the cardiology service
- Education and support for medical, nursing and allied health professional colleagues
- Seeing cardiology inpatient referrals
Requirements:
- Full GMC Registered with a Licence to Practice
- Be on the GMC Specialist Register for Cardiology
- Full Right to work in the UK
