This University Hospital is the largest in the Mid-West Region and serves as a major teaching and research facility. It provides a comprehensive range of acute and specialist services to patients across the Mid-West region of Ireland. What’s on Offer for You?
- Basic Salary scale between €226,681- €272,290 in accordance with the HSE 2023 Consultant contract
- Additional remuneration for on-call duties and overtime as applicable depending on rota (up to €19,000)
- Highly flexible contract that enables consultants opportunity for a variety of different work patterns
- Up to €12,000 CME and €8,000 research grant
- 30 days annual leave
- 10 public holidays
- Continuous Medical Education leave
- Hours: 37 hours per week, plus on-call supplements
Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality medical care in Diabetes and Endocrinology to patients at this University Hospital.

Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective diagnosis, treatment, and patient management.

Supervise and mentor junior doctors and medical trainees.

Engage in continuous professional development, research, and quality improvement initiatives.

Participate in on-call duties as per the hospital’s rota.

Contribute to teaching and training programmes for medical students and postgraduate trainees.
Requirements to Apply

Full registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Irish Medical Council (IMC)—Specialist Division in Diabetes and Endocrinology must be active and in place to secure an interview.

Excellent clinical, diagnostic, and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable.

Proven track record in medical research and clinical teaching.

Subspecialty experience in Diabetes and Endocrinology

Prior experience working in an Irish or UK healthcare setting.

Participation in quality improvement or patient safety initiatives.
