The Role
Provide clinical expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, investigation, and management of young adult patients with severe complex mental health problems, across a number of settings including inpatient and community.
The Gold Coast Health youth mental health service leads the way providing services for the 18-25 group of older adolescent and young adults, and works within a developmental, systemic, and family orientated framework. The 16-bed Acute Young Adult Inpatient Unit, is for young adults with severe and complex mental health needs and require intensive inpatient treatment.
The Young Adult Team is developing an innovative new model of care, building on existing services for management of acute crisis and early psychosis, and thanks to recent new funding, is currently expanding the current team.
Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABPN certified) or New Zealand.
The Medical Board of Australia is establishing a new expedited pathway to specialist registration, eliminating the need for a specialist assessment with a specialist medical college for those with an accepted qualification. The list of accepted qualifications will be published shortly, with the new pathway available from December 2024.
