ENT Surgeon

We are seeking two Specialist Otolaryngologists for Hawke’s Bay who share our values of He kauanuanu – Respect; Ākina – Improvement; Rāranga te tira – Teamwork; Tauwhiro – Care.

These are replacement posts for retiring surgeons.

This is an opportunity to apply for a permanent position available in Hawke's Bay. The health sector in this area is undergoing expansion and modification with new public, and private, operating theatres, and other facilities, under construction. The successful candidates will be part of a team of five Otolaryngologists and an Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon who are working collaboratively to provide high quality care and to improve equity and health outcomes for the Māori and Pasifika populations. The team is supported by two registrars, a house officer and four Clinical Specialist Nurses.

There are ample opportunities to develop subspecialist interests, that will complement the department’s current service, with high levels of community unmet need. We enjoy good collegial relationships with other departments, allied medical health professionals and close links with tertiary services. The department is well equipped for all aspects of modern ENT health care.

Hawke's Bay is situated in Hastings, New Zealand. It is a secondary level, 410 bed accredited public hospital providing acute and elective care for a region of over 162,000 people. The hospital is a modern facility with a large range of surgical, medical, oncology and radiological services. The ENT outpatient services are delivered from new premises located in Ahuriri, Napier which is 20 minutes by car. It is anticipated that candidates may also wish to work part time in the private sector with the current ENT specialists who have helped to develop new facilities.

Hawke’s Bay is famous for its excellent ‘Mediterranean’ climate, wine, food, cultural events and outdoor recreational activities and a strong sense of community. It is a great place to bring up children with a number of excellent schools.  The area offers an enviable lifestyle with a choice of urban or rural living, and little traffic congestion.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career and work in a wonderful part of New Zealand in modern facilities with a dedicated, enthusiastic and fun team.

Applicants must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand as a Specialist Otolaryngologist.

If you are interested in these positions, please apply online and attach an up to date copy of your Cv for consideration.
