Nicky and Debbie are currently travelling around New Zealand, meeting up with our clients and catching up with our placed candidates. We will be sharing their updates shortly, but in the meantime we thought we would take a look at why Doctors find New Zealand so attractive.
Have you seen this fantastic article about two Doctors who moved from Scotland to New Zealand? http://gisborneherald.co.nz/lifestyle/2174930-135/physicians-from-afar
They are Hospital Doctors who are loving the change in lifestyle. Indeed there are similar benefits for GPs looking for a different quality of life. In the article they mention several aspects of work and life in New Zealand that we know are a huge draw for Doctors looking for a change. The very first thing that they mention is the work/life balance.
Work-Life balance
Quality of life is a hugely important factor for so many people seeking to move to New Zealand. There have been several studies in the UK and New Zealand looking at why Doctors choose to relocate to New Zealand and quality of life always ranks as the highest factor. Whether it be a more permanent move, or a shorter working holiday, New Zealand is an attractive prospect for many Doctors.
Months of Red Tape?
Of course moving overseas to work can be a lengthy process. As well as having the appropriate work visa, you must be registered with the relevant medical body as well. This is a process that our Registration Team is very experienced in supporting people through. They are here to help and to make the process as clear and straightforward as possible for you.
An International Workforce
The New Zealand healthcare system relies on international medical graduates, in Hospitals and General Practice, without which they would not be able to maintain their level of care. So not only do the Doctors who work in New Zealand get the invaluable experience of working in a different healthcare system they get to do so knowing that they are an essential part of life over there.
